The Ladies Professional Golf Association was established in 1950. The LPGA owes its long and distinguished history to the hard work and dedication of 13 very special women - the founding members of the LPGA. They are:

The 13 founding members were dedicated to golf as a game and a career. They "did it all" back then: planned and organized the golf tournaments, drafted the by-laws, supervised membership, set up the courses and much more. The financial rewards were often nonexistent in the beginning. The dedication to the sport and the LPGA was very much a "labor of love" for these 13 women.
