Representatives from the Toledo Mud Hens and the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger are pleased to announce a joint venture to celebrate the annual Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament and the Triple-A All-Star Game that is being played in Toledo this year. The “Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic/Toledo Mud Hens All-Star BASH” will be held Tuesday, July 11th at Fifth Third Field. The event is being sponsored by ProMedica Health System and Fifth Third Bank. The BASH is scheduled to kick-off at 6:30 PM and feature wonderful food, headline entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show. This is going to be a week to remember for the entire community and the “Jamie Farr Owens Coning Classic/Toledo Mud Hens All-Star BASH” is going to be the party of the year,” stated Judd Silverman, Tournament Director, Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.

“From the music of the World Classic Rockers, to the fireworks display set to launch for the first time from the High-Level Bridge in downtown Toledo, to the opportunity to mingle with world-class professional athletes from the LPGA and Triple-A Baseball All-Stars, the “Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic/Toledo Mud Hens All-Star BASH” will certainly be an event to remember,” said Joseph Napoli, Vice President and General Manager, Toledo Mud Hens.

Headline entertainment will be provided by the “World Classic Rockers,” a group made up of former band members from Santana, Journey, Steppenwolf, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Toto.

Tickets are $200 per person and are limited to 3,000 people. Each ticket includes dinner, entertainment, meet and greet with the athletes and the fireworks display.

The “Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger/Toledo Mud Hens All-Star BASH” will do more for Northwest-Ohio than simply entertain its residents and guests. Proceeds from the event will benefit 14 Toledo-area children's charities helping fulfill the quest to reach a cumulative tournament goal of $5 million in 2006.

Committed to putting on a first-class sporting event for the community, raising money for local children's charities and promoting Toledo and Northwest Ohio to the rest of the country through three days of national television coverage, the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger, is a designated 501c3 non-profit organization.

Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club, Inc. dates all the way back to 1883, when the team was known as the “Blue Stockings.” Famous players such as American Indian and Olympic Hero Jim Thorpe played for the Hens in 1921. Hall of Famer, Casey Stengel managed six Toledo teams, including the 1927 team that won the Junior World Series, before fulfilling his destiny as the New York Yankees manager. Hack Wilson, another Hall of Famer, who owns the Major League RBI record of 190, suited up for the Hens in 1925. Recent Major league stars include Kirby Puckett, Frank Viola, Travis Fryman, Tony Clark, Bobby Higginson, Justin Thompson, and Kirk Gibson just to name a few.

Jamie Farr, who brought the team nationwide fame thorugh his role of Max Klinger on M*A*S*H, has made several special appearances at the ballpark. In 1986, Bob Costas, after insisting in a nationally televised broadcast that he played for the Mud Hens in the 70s, was Toledo's guest first base coach.
