LPGA National Education Program Series - Certification Tracks

For over 50 years, the LPGA has developed and enhanced golf education for teachers and coaches of the game. The role of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) as a leader in the golf industry for teaching and coaching development is reflected in the LPGA National Education Program Series (NEP), the most comprehensive and dynamic teacher education series in the industry. The LPGA Education and Research Advisory Board has expanded the LPGA NEP Series to include coaching and managerial leadership education. With the additional educational offerings, the LPGA NEP now offers three specialty education tracks:

As in the original NEP Series, the LPGA Education Research and Advisory Board utilizes research-based theory that has identified the core competencies required to be an effective teacher, coach, and managerial leader, and incorporates interactive practical applications of these competencies to the golf industry in the program content. Each education track consists of three levels:

The Level I program is the core program for all three specialty tracks. The Level II program in a specialty track must be completed before attending the Level III program in the same track.

Eligibility

  • Individuals in the LPGA T&CP application process are required to complete Level I and then Level II and Level III in their chosen education track as part of their LPGA T&CP Class A certification process. Current LPGA T&CP members
    • For LPGA T&CP members who joined the LPGA after January 1, 1997, all three levels of the NEP Series are required. Current LPGA T&CP Class A members seeking a secondary certification are not required to complete Level I, but must complete Level II prior to Level III in the same track, in addition to meeting the Level I and Level II Self Study and Evaluation requirements.
    • Current LPGA T&CP members who wish to attend a program that is not required as part of their certification, are not required to complete Level I, but must complete Level II prior to Level III in the same track.
  • Non-LPGA members who are interested in the further development of their teaching, coaching or management skills. Although Level I will not be required by these individuals, it is highly recommended. Level II in an education track must be completed prior to Level III in that same track.

Program Format

All programs are interactive in nature, balancing theory and practice. Concepts presented in the classroom through dynamic audio-visual presentations are applied thorough "hands on" learning experiences, either at the practice facility or in real-life simulations. The NEP I-Core Education and the NEP II program are four (4) days in length and the NEP III program is three (3) days in length. The hours for all programs are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and participants are expected to attend all sessions with no late arrivals or early departures.

The NEP's were the most useful learning experience in my life. The way the program is designed and layered one upon the other is really brilliant. At the conclusion of NEP III, I felt that I'd had a very well-rounded and well-designed golf learning program. I really loved it and wish there were more!
