Hello everyone! I am back for my third blog of the year. I have been in Phoenix since my last blog working on swing changes with my coach Paul Purtzer and playing in some Cactus Tour events. The swing changes are coming along but are not completely there yet. I have some good days and some not so good days. I know that over time it will feel very normal but there are still moments when this new position and move feel very foreign to me.
The past couple of weeks I have had some house guests, Kris Tamulis and Sarah Huarte. They have been in town to play in some Cactus Tour events between the LPGA events. It is a great place to play to keep you competitive. It is perfect for me because I live in Phoenix and can also play competitive tournaments to keep my game in shape for the Monday qualifyers and LPGA events that I will get into.
When Kris was in town it was my birthday and it was really nice to have her here to celebrate the big 26 with me! I always remind her that I am still younger, ha! I traveled with Kris our first year as professionals playing on the Duramed FUTURES Tour. We had a great time together that year with plenty of stories.
Sarah Huarte came into town the following week to play in a Cactus Tour event at the ASU Karsten golf course. We had a great time that week and Sarah won the event! We were able to go to a Diamondback's baseball game and eat out at one of Sarah's favorite restaurants in Phoenix, Bandara's. It was very tasty and if you are in town you should try it out.
I am currently in the process of trying to get organized to go to Mexico. I am in the field for the Corona Championship. I have both of my parents coming down with me for the week so it should be great. I have never been to Mexico before and I will have to admit I'm a little nervous because I don't know what to expect. I have asked a number of other players about their experiences, including my big sister for the year, Natalie Gulbis. I'll be sure to write next time about my new experiences in Mexico.
I am excited to be playing in my first LPGA event this coming week and I hope everything goes well with the golf! Keep your fingers crossed!
