Real-Time Scoring

Ominous storm clouds conveniently gave way to bright sunshine as Lorena Ochoa pulled up in a golf cart to the par-3 course at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on Thursday to shoot a public service announcement for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of American (GCSAA). Always her pleasant self, Lorena calmly introduced herself to the crew and took her spot in front of the camera – where she has grown quite comfortable – to help the GCSAA remind viewers to properly fix their ballmarks and replace their divots. Without skipping a beat, Lorena hit a 40 yard wedge shot and popped up a pancake sized divot, just as the crew had hoped. Donning her trademark Banamex cap and green Lacoste shirt, she looked straight into the camera, said her lines and walked out of the shot, but not before giving a quick wink to the staff! She was then whisked away to her pre-tournament press conference where she mentioned that she got into Portland late Wednesday night after spending a few days with her sister's newborn baby, Lucia. She said if she hadn't gone back to Mexico to see her niece, she would not have been named the godmother! After a quick bite to eat, it was off to her 12:40 p.m. pro-am time and her first practice round of the week.
