Real-Time Scoring
Wendy's Championship for Children
Dublin, OH

I arrived in Dublin, OH, feeling a little weary from battling the storm in Orlando the week prior. The week was suppose to be a little break for me, but Hurricane Charley had other plans. I turned on the TV and saw Charley heading straight for Florida. By the time Thursday came around, I found myself helping my mom tie down our way-too-heavy-to-move gas grill so it wouldn't become a projectile if the wind picked up. We also stocked up on "storm supplies" just in case the power went out, and moved the exercise equipment indoors. Thankfully Charley was only a category 1 hurricane when it hit Orlando. However, that didn't stop it from leaving its mark. We lost some trees, the power lines were down, and trash was scattered all over. It was one messy sight.

My on-course activities in Dublin were less than average and I was laid off on the weekend. I went movie-hopping with my mom and we saw Tom Cruise's "Collateral" and "Princess Diaries 2." I loved Princess Diaries. It was goofy and entertaining.

Wachovla LPGA Classic hosted by Betsy King
Allentown, PA

One of the funniest things of the season happened to me on Monday morning during my travel from Columbus to Allentown. My mom and I were scheduled to fly from Columbus to Allentown via Newark on Continental Airlines. We landed in Newark, NJ, and proceeded to the connecting gate. I got to the gate, checked in, and asked to be reseated next to my mom. The attendant said it shouldn't be a problem because there were only six passengers. I felt a little nervous after I heard that because that meant it would be a small plane. Just then my brother called and me and we had a chat about my game and his final school year. We kept talking until boarding time. I really needed to use the restroom but opted to wait until I got on board.

We climbed on a shuttle bus and drove past many airplanes and I silently prayed that we wouldn't get the smallest one at the end of the row. The shuttle driver slowly made his way through the airport storage and all the way out of the airport. At first I thought we were driving to another nearby airport, but then the driver entered the highway and the other four passengers settled in to read or sleep. I checked my boarding pass. It said, "Continental Airbus Express."

Puzzled, I turned around to ask a lady behind me where we were headed. She gave me an odd look and said "Allentown". My mom and I bursted out laughing hysterically and woke up the entire "flight."

State Farm Classic
Springfield, IL

I arrived in Springfield feeling quite comfortable. I had played there when I was 14 on a sponsor's invite and I remember liking the town and the fans.( See, I do remember things.)

I recall that a big percentage of the gallery was made up of kids and a lot of them would volunteer for the tournament. My standard bearers were 16 or under for all four rounds. They were so nervous to meet me and my playing partners on the first tee, their hands were shaking. I think the kids that step out and volunteer for this assignment are brave because it's quite a responsibility.

I played a few holes during the practice rounds and took it easy because my lower back wasn't feeling so hot. But after a few sessions with Jim Doyle and his hard-working staff of the Stryker Physiotherapy, the LPGA's official healthcare provider, my sore back was good enough to play in Springfield. If it wasn't for them, I don't know if my back would have held up for all 4 rounds. They said that's what happens when you get older...

I had a good time in Illinois last week and I look forward to a seven day break.
