Phew - what a week! Since rookie blog #2, I played in two Duramed FUTURES Tour events. The first event was in Winter Haven, Florida, where I played well but felt that I could have played better. But thats golf, right?!?! The next event after Winter Haven was in Daytona Beach, where I had to withdraw from the tournament after the first round. I had pulled a muscle right under my left shoulder blade. (it's always on the same side, too...weird) That week of rest was not fun because I wasn't able to do anything except sit around with ice and heat...not fun.
After the Duramed events came my first LPGA event down in Morelia, Mexico - the Corona Championship. Having a low priority status makes it difficult to play in any LPGA events because you're always on standby. As soon as I found out that I got into this tournament, I had a decision to make..."To play or not to play?" (in Mexico). I decided to give it a shot and bought plane tickets that morning so I could leave that night. Talk about last minute.
Everything was great until we arrived in Morelia to find that my golf clubs did not arrive O_O
Not only did my clubs not arrive, but it happened to many other players too! I had to practice with one of the members clubs at the golf course! (that was a first) I mean it's better than nothing, but still not the same. At least I got to hit some golf balls.
I ended up getting my clubs and played. Did not play well the first round and tried to make it up the second day, but it was already too late. So yeah, that was my experience playing in my first LPGA event. Oh, and did I mention it was just in time for the Swine Flu! We flew straight into Guadalajara and Mexico City. Great.
