Hello, everyone! Sorry that I couldn't update my Rookie Blog for a while. I was busy traveling to Europe for the Evian Masters and the Ricoh Women's British Open, and then to Japan to play several tournaments back home. I finally returned to the States and I'm now getting ready to compete in the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in Portland, OR, this week.
It was my first time to get to take part in the Evian Masters, and it was a very beautiful place. I enjoyed the different atmosphere compared to what I am used to. My older brother and sister-in-law visited Geneva to watch me play, and it was a very fun and relaxing week. Most of all, I was so happy for Ai Miyazato to win that week!! I was watching the playoff for a while, but it was a very tense situation. I felt relieved when Ai's birdie putt went in. It was a great achievement indeed, and it makes all of us Japanese players competing on the Tour more confident. Congratulations Ai!!
Unfortunately, I missed the last two days of the following week at the Ricoh Women's British Open, but gained another great experience playing in the links course. It was a great week for women's golf that Ricoh, the title sponsor, announced their commitment to sponsoring the Championship up to 2013. Ricoh also supports the final event in the Japan Ladies Tour (the Ricoh Cup), so it was very encouraging for all of us players that such a great company had made such a decision in this difficult economic time.
After the two-week stretch in Europe, I was originally scheduled to play two events on my home tour - the AXA Ladies and the CAT Ladies. However, unfortunately I had to withdraw from the first one due to pain in my back. It was so disappointing since I was in contention after two rounds and both my parents were on-site to cheer for me. I managed to work with my trainer and physical doctor and was able to complete play in the second event. My back still feels uncomfortable, but I hope that I can manage and focus this week.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the fans that support me no matter what. The support I get is very encouraging and makes me feel happy even in times when things are not going the right way. I will work hard and try my best to put up a good performance for the remaining season. Thanks again!!
