During August 24-30, 2009, I had the opportunity to get into a tournament - the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in North Plains, Oregon. I had a chance to visit my uncle's family "Boonyakamol." I called them - Loong (which means Uncle) Daeng, Na (Aunt) Jan and my sister, Kham Noi - in Portland, Oregon, where they have a Thai restaurant called "Red Onion". It is located at 1123 NW 23rd Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97210. This was my first time going there.
They were very glad to see me, my mom, and my friends. They invited us to have Thai food and treated us every day until the end of the tournament. We really appreciated it. It was amazing for me to have real Thai food there. I would like to recommend everything on the menu of this restaurant.
Normally on Thai menus, you will find Pad Thai, Tomyam, Red Curry, Green and Curry, but their menu had different offerings such as "Yen Ta Four," "Kao Soi," "Porpia Sod," "Satay," "Kway Teow Neur Toon," or for those who like Nothern Thai food they have " Larb," "Namprik Ong," and "Gang Orm Neur." It was great for me to get to have them there.
If you would like to know how they taste, please go to "Red Onion". You will be very happy, and I bet you will enjoy it!!
One week in Portland, Oregon, with a warm welcome made me feel like I was in Thailand with my family. Thank you very much to Boonyakamol's family and all the staff in the restaurant, especially my sister, Kham Noi. She made me and my mom happy every day.
