On Tuesday, Jan. 12, Commissioner Mike Whan joined the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup Team in paying a visit to President Barack Obama at the White House. Led by Captain Beth Daniel, the team met with the President in the Oval Office and took a tour of the White House. The team then headed to a reception at the University Club in Washington D.C to meet with special guests.
Day Two of the U.S. Solheim Cup Team's visit to our nation's capital continues with a visit to the Pentagon and 9/11 Memorial.
The visit certainly generated some buzz within both the golf and political worlds. Matt Negrin of Politico Magazine reported that President Obama made a special announcement to the women – he made his first birdie on a recent trip to Hawaii. Also according to Negrin, Natalie Gulbis said the President asked the women how he could get his daughters involved in golf, to which Gulbis replied: “'..bring them to an LPGA tournament.'” And so, perhaps we'll see a very special guest walking alongside the fairway this season!

My best memories as a professional golfer have been on this US Solheim Cup team. I have been on three cup teams. |
