Daniel and Mallon host Pro-Am

LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame member and 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Beth Daniel and 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup Assistant Captain Meg Mallon will host their first annual pro-am to benefit the Bethesda Hospital Foundation on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at The Falls Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla.  Daniel and Mallon took over the pro-am this year from PGA pros Bob Murphy and Laurie Hammer, who previously held the event for 40 years with the help of PGA Tour and Champions Tour pros.

“Meg and I decided to get involved with this fundraiser because it is our community hospital,” Daniel said.  “I have said that when I stopped playing on tour that it would make sense to get involved in the community I live in.”

The duo will be joined by LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame members JoAnne Carner, Nancy Lopez and Karrie Webb and 2009 Solheim Cup participants Helen Alfredsson, Christina Kim, Brittany Lang, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel, U.S. Solheim Cup Assistant Captain Kelly Robbins and Angela Stanford.  Other LPGA players participating include Beth Bader, Meaghan Francella, Leta Lindley, Stacy Lewis and Michelle McGann.

Murphy and Hammer also return as participants, along with Jay Sigel.  Murphy and his wife, Gail, will serve as honorary chairpersons.

In 40 years, the event has raised over $3 million dollars.  Proceeds in the past helped build the new Heart Institute at Bethesda Hospital, located in Boynton Beach, Fla., which opened last year.

The pro-am, which begins at 12 p.m., is open to the public for $10 and a free shuttle service is available from the course parking lot.  For more information on the Bethesda Hospital Foundation, please click here. >>
