HI Everyone!
My name is Jane Chin and this is my first blog for the 2010 season. I guess I will start off by telling you a little bit about myself and this upcoming year. I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA, and since moved to Mission Viejo, CA, with my family. I didn't start golf until the age of 13, and before that I did ballet, tap, and jazz for about eight years. Dancing was, and still is, not my thing.
I went to the University of California, Irvine, from 2004-2009 and played on the women's golf team while studying Criminology. Golf was not something I took seriously until my sophomore year in college. I had struggled my first two years and just went through the motions of school and practice. I realized during my sophomore year that I wanted to keep playing and pursued it. But when my junior year came along, I was struggling with my driver and didn't play with it for my entire junior year. I knew that if I wanted to make it to the LPGA, I had to get better and, of course, tee off with my driver. This is when I decided to redshirt my fourth year. I worked on my swing and mental game with my current swing psychologist, Neale Smith, and it paid off in my fifth year. I was happy with how I was playing and decided to play in the 2009 Duramed FUTURES Tour Q-School. To be honest with you, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I was really new to the idea of playing golf professionally. I just kept going with the flow and played a half season on the Duramed FUTURES Tour. Then I played in the LPGA Q-School in December, 2009, and made it with conditional status. I am very happy that I got my rookie card on my first try, and I look forward to my season.
This season I plan to play in a mixture of LPGA and Duramed FUTURES Tour tournaments. My first event will be the Monday Qualifier for the LPGA La Costa Event, and then I will play in the Duramed FUTURES Tour event in Daytona Beach, FL.
Thanks for reading my blog and I will update asap!
Jane
