Whitney Wade - Rookie Blog One

Hi everyone…

My name is Whitney Wade, and I am about to compete this week in the first tournament of the year on the Duramed FUTURES Tour in Winter Haven, Florida. I am super excited and ready for the season to begin. Like many other players, I have conditional status on the LPGA, so at this time I do not know how many LPGA events I will get to compete in. I plan to play on the Duramed FUTURES Tour all season unless I get the opportunity to play in an LPGA event.

I am originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, and we all know that it's a four-season state, so I came to Florida for the off-season because it is supposed to be warmer, right??? Well, think again… Apparently word on the street is that this past winter was the worst since 1976…go figure... haha. Even though it might have been a bit chillier than I had hoped, I still managed to work on my game….just had a few more cups of hot chocolate in addition to the four layers of clothing I had on to ensure I kept warm =) I am looking forward to this season and I am excited for all the opportunities that might come about now that I am a member of the LPGA.

Now a little bit of background on me before the second blog comes along. As I mentioned before, I am from Kentucky but went to school at the University of Georgia to play golf. With that being said, I am a Georgia Bulldog at heart but will carry Kentucky blue with me always. People ask me who I cheer for when they play one another…and I answer that I have to cheer for Georgia because people always give me a hard time if UK beats UGA in anything, so I like to be able to give it back when UGA wins =) Otherwise, I am right there with my family cheering for Kentucky…even though it can get quite loud with my older brother Wes, my younger brother Andrew, and my dad. My family and I are very competitive, so we like to win in anything we do. When I am not playing golf, I am usually at home relaxing and just hanging out with friends. We do not get many chances to travel home during the season, so I try to take advantage of the times we have off. I also like to bake whether it be for myself or for other people. I always say I would open a bakery if I didn't play golf, but I would need my mom to be the pastry chef!! And if I told my close friends this, they would say my bakery wouldn't make it because I would eat all the goodies before they made it out - lol…!! Oh well…guess I had better stick to golf!!

Okay well this is it for my first blog…hope everyone has a great day and thanks for all the support!! Take care!!

Whitney
