This is my first blog of the 2010 season. Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Jean Reynolds and I am a rookie this year on the LPGA Tour. I am from Newnan, Georgia, which is a small town just south of Atlanta. I have lived here my whole life and all of my family still lives here. I am very fortunate to have grown up in such an awesome community that has supported me all these years to pursue my dream of playing on the LPGA Tour. I guess the story goes a little something like this... I have two older brothers, Garnet and John, who grew up playing golf, and being the youngest, of course I wanted to do whatever they were doing! I began goofing around at the age of six, and by the age of 10, I was playing in my first competitive tournament. I continued to play junior and amateur golf and eventually earned a scholarship to play for the University of Georgia golf team. Although I red-shirted my freshman year and eventually decided to take a break from competitive golf, I still somehow managed to earn my way onto the LPGA Tour! While I was at Georgia, I joined Alpha Delta Pi sorority, enrolled in a study abroad program in Innsbruck, Austria, and worked for Sea Island golf learning center. I had a wonderful experience in college and met some of my best friends while I was there.
When I decided I wanted to play professional golf, I was unaware of how difficult the road is to get there. If there is one thing I have learned about the whole process, it is this - pay your dues and the opportunities will come! I played on the Duramed FUTURES Tour for two years and learned a lot. I had a great year this past year and it was due in part to an attitude change! I earned two wins on the DFT, as well as several top-tens. I had a great experience in the 2009 U.S. Women's Open, and it is a week I will remember forever. I was fortunate that my dream came true, and I earned my 2010 LPGA Tour card.
I started my rookie season a couple weeks ago at the KIA CLASSIC Presented by J Golf at the La Costa Resort. I loved everything about the week! Although I did not have the results I wanted, I know there is plenty of golf to play, and just having the opportunity to play golf on this level is just incredible! I am very lucky, and I am looking forward to a fun and successful year on the LPGA Tour!
