Maria Hernandez - Rookie Blog One

My name is Maria Hernandez. I'm from Pamplona, Spain. I'm the youngest in my family. I have one sister and one brother. I graduated college last May from Purdue University with a degree in Management. I really enjoyed my time at Purdue and I met some great people!

Pamplona is a small city in the north of Spain. It is known for the running of the bulls. The festival is called San Fermin. It starts on July 6th at noon and ends on the 14th at midnight. It is a very fun week. A lot of people come from all around the world and everyone is very friendly. All they want to do is party!

Last year, after winning the NCAA championship, I turned professional and played in six events on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, two on the LPGA Tour, and I played in the U.S. Open. After that, I went to LPGA Q-School as well as the European Tour Q-School, and I made it on both. So this season I'm going to try to play on both Tours.

I came back to the U.S. at the beginning of March. I went to Vegas for few days with some friends. I had a lot of fun with them, and learned to play some games in the casino! Too bad I learned to play them the last night! :) After that, I went to visit a friend in Lubbock, Texas. I really liked it there - it's a very nice place. I enjoyed my time in both places. It was great to see people I hadn't seen for so long, and also great to see a couple of dogs that used to be with me at Purdue! :)

Last week, I played my first LPGA event of the season! It was a great experience and I enjoyed every moment of it. I didn't play very well, but it's the first tournament of the season. Hopefully after this one, I will have great news for you guys!!! I loved San Diego, it is an awesome place!!! Maybe one day I can live there….

Now, I'm at Purdue. I will be here until my next tournament in Mexico. I will be traveling a little bit around the U.S. before the tournament. I love to be back at Purdue. It's very nice to get to see everyone again!!! And with the great weather that we are having, I can get some practice done!

Thanks for reading my blog! Keep checking in for more updates!!
