Hi, my name is Marianne and I'm from Norway. I was born and raised in a small town called Sarpsborg, just outside of Oslo. I started playing golf when I was around four years old and it has been a big part of my life since.
When I grew up, we had a lot of players my age at my club, but unfortunately not many were girls. So when I was around 11, I joined my girlfriends' handball team. That was a lot of fun playing a team sport and traveling around with them. But when I got older, I didn't have time to play anymore because there was so much traveling with my golf.
In 2004, I qualified for the 2005 Ladies European Tour and turned professional. I played on the Tour for a year, but didn't keep my card. In 2006, I played some events but wasn't qualified for all of them because of my status. I didn't do very well that year either, and because I was without a full Tour card in 2007 as well, I decided to take a step back and play on the Scandinavian Tour to get my confidence back. I won the Order of Merit that year and finally got my LET card back. So I have played there for the last two years now. Last year I won two tournaments and finished 4th on the money list.
I finished 2nd in last year's LPGA Q-School and was then ready to take the next step in my career. I have done a lot of good preparation this winter before the season, and I'm really looking forward to it. As we have lots of snow back home during the winter, I went to Dubai and practiced at Butch Harmond School of Golf. That's a great place and I love going there!
So far this season, I have played the three LET events in Australia and New Zealand before I came over to the U.S. I started the LPGA season by missing two cuts, so that wasn't the best start. But hey - I'm getting there! Too bad we have three weeks off now because I'm starting to really get my game back.
I just moved into an apartment in Orlando. I'm not used to living alone, so this is a big step for me!! I miss my family and my sister's dog a lot!! But I'm doing okay :) My best friend is here now, so she helped me with the cleaning yesterday :) I'm really looking forward to plaingy on the LPGA Tour this year!!
