I went to the Canadian Open in Edmonton Alberta in 2007 at the Royal Mayfair Golf & Country Club, where Lorena was playing and won. It was an excellent opportunity to see Lorena playing. At the end, she signed a cup for me. She is a great person and excellent player. I took this picture when she was practicing after Friday's round. Ulises Araiza |

Lorena, thanks for all your efforts and pasión for the golf game. You are leaving a big hole. Nobody can take your place. I wish all the sucsess in your life, and hope you can come back in a few years with more excellent golf. Regards |

Hello Lorena, Thank you for being the best Mexican woman in the history of Golf and international sports. Your example as professional golfer, Mexican ambassador, and beautiful person will stay in the hearts of all young people in Mexico and other countries. You represent the proud as Mexicans and women. You have really made a positive social change in Mexico. You have inspired a lot of golfers and non-golfers in Mexico. You have even changed the woman golf paradigm in Europe. You have achieved what very few people have. I wish you the best in this new step in your life. I would like to write a book about your life as professional golfer in the LPGA. Sincerely, |

Little did I realize when Lorena signed my program that it was going to be the last time I watched her play golf. A few years back, she went head-to-head with Paula Creamer in the final round here at the Wegmans Rochester International. They were neck-in-neck going into the back nine when Lorena went on a birdie binge. I have been lucky enough to see some major golf action in my life (Jack winning the PGA in 80, Strange winning the US Open in 89 & Cabrera to win The Masters & a Ryder Cup) but never have I see the likes of what Lorena did that Sunday afternoon! She birdied 6 of the last nine holes to win at Locust Hill. To see a player in "The Zone" like that was truly something special & I will never forget it. Lorena, thanks for that special memory and bless your heart... you are one of a kind. Joe Strayhall, Rochester NY |

My Favorite weekend on TV sports… |
I remember watching Lorena finish her round in, I believe, York PA to obtain her LPGA card as top player on the Futures Tour that year.. Met her and her brother then and was impressed with her game and person. She is genuine! A real role model. |

Lorena, I watched you win in Rochester a few years ago. I said three words to you that weekend, "Hall of Fame". You just smiled and signed my golf ball. Needless to say, you made my day! You are loved here in upstate New York - more proof that your fan base is truly global. I'm not sure you realize how remarkable you are. Your combination of humbleness, kindness, and greatness separates you from the rest. My wish for you is a lifetime of happiness, and if you feel it's time to retire from competitive golf, then so be it. (It doesn't mean WE have to be happy about it, right? *smile*) Thanks for lots of great memories. Congratulations and best of luck to you. |

In 2005, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the U.S. Women's Open at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver. I got to watch some of the practice rounds prior to the actual event and I'll never forget standing beside a tee box all roped off that Lorena was about to tee off from. I had worn a white Cherry Hills visor and she motioned for me to come over and she took a pen out of her pocket and signed the visor. I didn't ask her, she just reached out to me and as I noticed, alot of her fans. I will miss her as she's my favorite on and off the course player. Wishing her only the best! |

Lorena, |

I had the pleasure of watching Lorena win her first LPGA Tournament at the Franklin American Mortgage Championship in Franklin, (Nashville) Tennessee on Sunday, May 16, 2004. I asked her to sign my Official Spectator Gude after her round on Saturday. She was very gracious in doing so. I'm glad I got it on Saturday, because after her win on Sunday, the crowd was all around her getting autographs. She stayed out there until she provided each seeker their autograph. And let's remember... this was her first win and she was a relatively unknown player. |
I am saddened to see Lorena leave competitive golf. She has made a tremendous contribution to the game. More importantly, her innate decency to people in all stations of life and her philanthropic contributions to those less fortunate than her are inspirational models to all of us. A great golfer and a great person. Thank you for your contributions, Lorena. May God bless you. |
I volunteered at the LPGA Championship & the 2009 Womens' Open and I can tell you that Lorena was always pleasant & polite to her fans and the volunteers. I remember at the 2009 Womens' Open she had just finished a disappointing round. She walked past my spot and I could see she was upset as she went to turn in her score. I figured we wouldn't see her after that. I took a break from my volunteer post, but when I came back there was Lorena signing autographs. There had to be at least 50 people there, but she stayed and signed for everyone. She answered their questions and joked with the fans. She even signed my cap for me. |
My favorite memory of Lorena was in 2006 at the ADT (Trump's course West Palm Beach, FL), where I first met her during one of her practice rounds. I asked her to sign a Callaway golf ball for me (which she did) and she noticed my friend, Phyllis, had a camera and Lorena offered to have my picture taken with her. In 2009 at the Jamie Farr Classic in Toledo, Ohio I had an 8 X 10 of the photo and Lorena graciously signed it for me. It is one of my golf collection's prized possessions. She will be missed. The LPGA has not had a golfer like Lorena since Nancy Lopez. So kind and gracious to all their fans! |
My favorite Lorena moment came at the 2009 Sybase Classic at Upper Montclair Country Club in NJ. The rainy weather caused a 2nd stopage of play in 2 hours. It was cold, wet, and the clubhouse was packed. Many pro players could easily and understandably be cranky under those conditions. Not Lorena, she graciously signed anything anyone wanted; chatted with fans, and "held court" at a table with other LPGA players. She laughed and joked with all, and kept everyone loose and in a great mood despite the conditions. Very few players come across as genuine, Arnie comes to mind. We'll miss her on tour because in addition to her superior play, her true spirit came through. |

I had the opportunity to be the mexican reporter to follow her in her firt Major the US Womens Open in 2000 played in Guirnee, Illinois, whe she was an amateur. |
I started watching the LPGA because of Nancy Lopez. She was truly a class act, and represented to women's golf what Arnold Palmer represented to men's golf. The reason I mention her is that Lorena Ochoa is the first player since that time to be a player of Nancy Lopez's calibre. This is not a reflection on the other greats since Ms Lopez; but both these great players represent the best characteristics of a truly great player. They both were unusually great players, both are great humanitarians, and both exhibit the very best behavior on and off the golf course. Lorena cooking for the grounds crew and signing autographs will always be my favorite memories of her. Ultimately, golf is just another game, and there are many great players out there who are just in it for the money and the fame; but there are few in number who appreciate and care more about the little people than about being famous. As much as I admire Tiger, Jack, Gary & Lee for their golfing ability; they were not the humanitarians that Arnie was and continues to be. |

ALL MEXICANS WILL MISS YOU |
Super Lorena!
At the '09 Kraft/Nabisco, Ochoa hit a tee shot on a par #3 which ended up bouncing off my foot as I sat near the green. She came up & asked if it hit anyone & I said "It hit my foo--but it was an honor!" She smiled, chipped it up for a gimme par then gave me the ball! I carry it for good luck in my golf bag. She's a class act & I'll miss her! |

Dear Lorena: |
The second time the then Weetabix British Women's Open Championship came to my home course of Royal Lytham and St Annes in 1996, Lorena stopped and had her picture taken with my grandson, who was then 7 years old. That, in itself was gracious enough, but when you consider that it was Sunday and she was on the way to the first tee with a chance to win the tournament for the first time, that is truly amazing. My grandson took to the game and is now in his second year as a junior member at Royal Lytham and much of this is down to Lorena's impression on a seven year old. Thank you. On the golf course she was a legend but in my book, she is a star! |
I attended the 2009 Michelob Ultra Open with my dad to watch you, Jiyai Shin, and Angela Stanford in the second round. We watched you make about a 20-footer on 18, and my dad congratulated you. Then on the fifth hole, I was sitting on the hill to the left and you waved at me. I don't know if you remember all this, but I just wanted to say that my dad and I had a great time watching you at Kingsmill and every week on TV. We are very sad to see you go. |

All the best in whatever you do... just wanted to leave you with this quote that reminds me of you: "Hope is found in unlikely places, that inspiration often comes not from tho...se with the most power or celebrity, but from the dreams and aspirations of individuals who are anything but ordinary!"
