Our family attended the Sunday round of the Kia Classic at La Costa, in Carlsbad, California. This was the first professional golf tournament we have ever attended. We all had a wonderful time watching the ladies play golf. My daughter, a member of her high school golf team, was a little reluctant to go. Her friends at home wanted to plan something for that Sunday. Her mom and I insisted she would enjoy the day and learn some things she could use in her golf game. We watched Beatriz Recari and Katherine Hull warm up on the driving range. When Beatriz went to practice at the short game area, we asked her caddy if Beatriz might autograph my daughter's cap. Beatriz was so gracious to come over and sign the cap and talk to my daughter for a while. While waiting to start her round, Katherine Hull also signed my daughter's cap and talked with her for a bit. Both these ladies were very gracious and talked to my daughter just like they were all old friends. We walked the course with the Recari/Hull pairing and my daughter learned a lot from watching how these ladies played...ball position, aim, course management, and a lot more. Both Beatriz and Katherine talked with the crowd and interacted with the crowd and were fun to watch. My daughter collected a lot of autographs that day - most from outside the scorer's tent. All the ladies who signed not only my daughter's cap, but also the caps of dozens of young fans, were very gracious and patient, even after spending hours warming up and playing 18 holes of golf. Thank you ladies of the LPGA. My daughter already wants to know if we can come back next year.
