On Saturday, four LPGA players participated in the first annual American Idol Judge Kara DioGuardi Celebrity Golf Scramble & Gala. The event was held at Golden Hills Golf & Turf Club in Ocala, Florida. DioGuardi's longtime friend, Bernadette Castro, owns the club. All proceeds from the event will be passed to the Phoenix House rehabilitation center in local Citra. DioGuardi's father has sat on the Phoenix House board since the early 1970s, while her brother John is a counselor there.
Brittany Lincicome, Meredith Duncan, Lisa Strom and Danielle Downey took part in a day of golf and a night of music and fun. Lincicome's foursome took home the first prize trophy for the scramble. At a cocktail reception following, the players spent time laughing and dishing with their amateur partners, while posing for pics with DioGuardi. Later in the evening, the American Idol judge reversed her usual role by taking the stage and singing two songs she composed - "Sober," written for Pink and "Taking Chances," written for Celine Dion. DioGuardi extended a heartfelt thanks to the LPGA players for giving their day and night to her special cause.
