Whitney Wade - Rookie Blog Three

Hello everyone. I hope you're having a good summer. Since I unfortunately did not make it into the U.S. Women's Open, I have a week off. It's so nice to get to come home and see my family and friends. We don't get to do that very often, but really there is no place like home and I love it. There has been a lot that has happened in my life in the past couple of months. My best friend, Sabrina, got married on June 12th, which was a very exciting day because I was there beside her as her maid of honor. Yes, I did miss a tournament to watch this day happen - the tournament that I actually won in Mason, Ohio last year. It was a tough decision to make, but her day was only going to happen once in a lifetime when I can play in tournaments every week.

I also had to make another tough decision when I got into the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger. It doesn't sound like a tough decision…you know get into an LPGA event…of course you're going to go. However, I was going to have to miss the London, Kentucky tournament, which is basically kind of like a home tournament for me. In addition to that, I was struggling with my swing some and didn't know how I felt about playing in an LPGA event when I wasn't at my best. I did give it some thought, but I chose to play in the LPGA event even though I missed a lot of people in London and had to fight through my swing. This was my first LPGA event I have gotten into this year and it was such a wonderful week for me. It was fun to get out there and see what a difference it is when you get to the top. I also was able to see some friends that I hadn't seen in quite awhile. Basically, everything was a positive getting to play in the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger and even though I didn't make the cut, I learned a lot and it was an unbelievable experience, especially with my dad on the bag. It's just a little taste of heaven…and makes you want to go back. I have a lot of work to do and I hope that the next LPGA event I get into, I will be confident in my game and go out there and compete like I know I can. Until then, I am about to take off on a five-week swing up north for the Duramed FUTURES Tour…so hopefully I can take advantage of these tournaments and finish the season off on a high note!! Thanks everyone, and have a good rest of the summer!! =)
