Hi everyone!!! My first rookie blog was the day before I started my rookie season here on the LPGA, so I am going to let you know what I have been up to since then.
The first tournament that I played on the LPGA was the KIA Classic Presented by J Golf in San Diego. It was such a great experience - probably even better than I expected. The course was amazing, maybe just a little too long for me! Other than that, everything was great. I have to admit that I was a little intimidated when I got to San Diego. Playing with people that I was just watching on TV about two months ago takes a little time to get used to, at least for me!! lol. But I had a good week - I made the cut and had a blast!!!
After that, I came back to Tempe, AZ. I spent a week with my old teammates and friends and then I went back home (Spain) for three weeks. I had such a great time at home…I have always loved being back home, but since now I don't have the chance to go back that often, I love it even more. What did I do over there???? I practiced with my coach. I needed to do some adjustments on my swing (still working on them), so I was working with him as much as I could. I say as much as I could because I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I have to tell you that it was not fun at all!!! I got two out the day after I got home and the other two the next week. So I couldn't really open my mouth for two weeks and I looked like a monster!!! lol. The good thing about this? They will not bother me anymore!! I also spent some quality time with my family and friends. I went with my friends to dinners, out, barbeques - I had a great time!! I also made a quick trip to the Spanish Golf Channel, and that was a lot of fun as well.
But before I realized, I was packing my bags again and was on my way to Mexico. I loved it down there…. Everyone was really nice to us, the clubhouse was probably the best one I have ever seen, and the golf course was in great shape. And after we played the course, we were in great shape as well!!! sooooo hilly!!!! I felt really bad for our caddies… Thank you Dan!!! I played really well the first day, -8. Then I had two tough rounds, but finished strong with a 4 under. So I am pretty happy with the tournament overall. Little by little, right??? I know playing bad is not fun, but I actually learned a lot from it.
When the tournament was over, I took the red-eye to Minneapolis to spend two days with one of my sponsors (Allianz). It was nice to meet everyone, and my agent, Alissa, took really good care of me! On Wednesday morning I flew to Arizona again, and I will be here until Monday, then I am off to the next tournament in Alabama. I love being in Arizona - it is like my second home. But I am also really excited about playing in Alabama!!!
I hope you all follow the next tournaments, and I will tell you all about them in the next blog!!! Until then, I hope all is well!!!
