Man, does time fly or what? I can not believe it is almost September! Just one more Duramed FUTURES Tour event left. I have finally had a week off. In the last two months or so a lot has changed. I have played in two LPGA events and five Duramed FUTURES Tour events. The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger was so much fun! I got to meet Jamie Farr and finally play in a LPGA event. I had a great time and was very happy to make the cut.
Then I had five Duramed FUTURES Tour events in a row. I loved that stretch of the Northeast - it's so pretty. In New Hampshire, a couple of us went to a state park one day. We rented kayaks and went around a big lake. I was so surprised by how warm the water was, so we swam around for a little bit then went for a hike, which was a bad move. We only had about an hour and 15 minutes before we needed to get on the road to make it to the "Meet the Pros" party. So we saw the hiking trails and one said 3.1 miles. That sounded alright. It took us 45 minutes before we realized we had only gone half of the way... woops (3.1 miles to the next check point, not the whole thing). So we turned around. The part I was upset about was that we didn't really see anything exciting - just trees. So the next time I go hiking, there better be a waterfall or something at the end.
After New Hampshire was Syracuse. That was a great week! I asked my parents to come up and they did, which turned out great! With my daddy caddy and my mom walking the course with my housing host, I got my second win. I was so happy my parents were there to see it! It was an exciting final round, with my lead only at one with four holes left to play. I buckled down, made a good par and a couple birdies to end up with a 5-shot lead on the 18th tee. Then the wheels came off. Ha. I had a little adrenaline flowing and made bogey. Luckily, I was able to still able to grab the win. The next week, my good friend, Dori Carter, won in Harrisburg, so we had an exciting couple of weeks.
In Harrisburg we went to a concert and saw O.A.R. They are a great band. It took us two trys to see them because the original date got rained out. So they came back a few days later on Sunday night, and it was great!!!! It was an amazing show - the weather was perfect and we had a reason to celebrate. Dori got on stage and sang a song with them. OK - that part didn't happen, but that would have been cool. The 5th of five events was Richmond. I really like that tournament. Danny Day, the Rife putter Rep, caddied for me and we had a great time!
Then I got the news I was into the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in Portland, OR. What a fun event!!! Pumpkin Ridge is a beautiful course and it was in such great shape. We were able to go to the Nike Employee store. Oh dear - I spent a little too much. I just got so excited when I saw all the awesome prices. I would be in trouble if I could go any time. I flew back to Richmond to get my car and made the trek back to Tampa. My car and I were very excited to see my house.
In a few days I will be flying up to Albany, for the final Duramed FUTURES Tour event! I can't wait! My parents and one of my aunts are coming up, too. I'm not sure how I am going to feel Sunday afternoon, but I am very excited to find out. I'll let you all know how that last tournament and the ceremony goes!
