What a great occasion to write a blog - while being stuck in the middle of the country, more specifically in the Amarillo airport (Texas). I left Colorado Springs this morning after a two-hour delay, but on our way to Dallas, they told us we needed to have an emergency landing. So yes, I am sitting down in my comfortable chair at the gate, writing my third rookie blog while playing with a 13-month-old little girl.
Let's see... lots of things have happened since my last blog! I played the tournaments in Mexico and Alabama, and the Sybase Match Play Championship. It has been a lot of learning on the course, improving my game in the areas that needed to be addressed to match the top players here in the LPGA. My biggest challenge has probably been the length of the course (much longer than what I was used to playing overseas), and having the measurements in yards (I have always worked in meters). All those past hours studying algebra and calculus at university are paying off when it comes to deducting the 10% all the time at a fast speed. For those who are reading this and don't understand what I am talking about, to convert from yards to meters you need to deduct 10%.
All my hard work showed in the Sybase Match Play Championship. I was very fortunate to get a sponsor invite to such a prestigious event and finish T9 - my first top ten of the year in the LPGA. It was a great venue, great organization, great food and clubhouse, and even better golf course.
So what is coming up?? Four tournaments in a row, and I can't wait to keep playing. My last performance gave me a lot of confidence and energy to make more top tens and win this year.
Wow! It looks like I am going to fly to Dallas finally after four hours in the Amarillo airport. I leave you guys for now, also because I am running out of battery power!
I will keep you posted with my adventures on Tour and discovering new places in this country!
