Figg-Currier wins second Wendy's Charity Classic

JACKSON, MI, AUGUST 9, 2010 - Firing a four under 68, Cindy Figg-Currier captured her second trophy at the Wendy's Charity Challenge in Jackson, Michigan. After a quick replacement of a long-favored putter that broke on hole 12, Figg-Currier went one under for the final six holes. The Michigan-born Past Champion (2008) of the Wendy's Charity Challenge showed her usual short game finesse sinking long putts and getting up and down on the greens. Celebrating its 10th year, the one day tournament featured all past winners and two Hall of Famers, Pat Bradley and Betsy King.

Event Hostess and Jackson native Elaine Crosby went three under to take solo second. 2009 Champion Christa Johnson rounded out the top three with her two under 70. Hall of Famers Bradley and King both finished with 71.

Even champion Cindy Figg-Currier would agree that the real winner of the event is the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and Wendy's Wonderful Kids. In the event's ten years, nearly $1.5 million has been raised to help support adoption. Last year alone, the funds raised from the event helped to place 38 kids with families.

The Legends Tour's next event, the Handa Cup, will be played September 2 - 5, 2010 at Wentworth By The Sea CC in Rye, NH. The international match play tournament, played in the spirit of the Solheim Cup, features 12 U.S. born Legends of the LPGA versus 12 internationally born Legends. Tickets are on sale now and available at www.thelegendstour.com. All ticket proceeds will benefit The First Tee of NH.
