On February 10th, 2011 Morgan Pressel was honored at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure “Wake Up For The Cure” breakfast in West Palm Beach, Florida. Morgan was presented with the first ever Kristin Hoke Award for her efforts in the fight against breast cancer. To date, Morgan has raised nearly $2 million and a great deal of awareness for the cause through her annual Morgan and Friends Fight Cancer tournament at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton. The Kathy Krickstein Pressel MammoVan, purchased from the proceeds of these charitable efforts, offers free mammograms to women in the local community.
Kristin Hoke was a local news reporter in West Palm who passed away of breast cancer last year and an award was created in her honor as she was such an inspiration while she battled the disease. On hand to present the award to Morgan was Nancy Brinker, the Founder and CEO of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. “Winning this award in Kristin’s name is a huge honor,” said Pressel. “She was an amazing woman and to receive the award from Nancy Brinker was indeed quite surreal. It was a special day.”
