Mollie Fankhauser Visits With Pups From Mayday Pit Bull Rescue

LPGA Tour player Mollie Fankhauser had a play date in the park with pups from the Mayday Pit Bull Rescue in Phoenix Thursday. While Fankhauser is teeing-it-up this week at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup for the Measle's Animal Haven Pit Bull Rescue in Columbus, Ohio, she has plans to visit pit bull rescues in every community in which she plays this season.

The Mayday Pit Bull Rescue currently has 30 adoptable pit bulls living in foster care and had just picked up eight-week old Saffron from a local animal shelter when Fankhauser arrived for the visit. It didn’t take long for Fankhauser to connect with the pups. “She (Saffron) was adorable and so sweet tempered,” Fankhauser said. “We spent the afternoon running around the park with the pups, but mostly sunning ourselves in the beautiful weather with Lucy, BB and Saffron. Six-month old Lucy was just released from the Vet's hospital with a sever case of mange, but she was just loving the sun and socializing with the other Mayday Pit Bulls.”

The RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup will donate its entire $1 million purse to charity, with $500,000 going to The LPGA Foundation and its LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program and $500,000 going to the top-10 finishers’ designated charities.
