Hi everyone :) My name is Jaclyn Sweeney, my nicknames are both Jackie and Moe Moe. Yes, I was a little monster when I was little and my favorite Red Sox player at the time was Mo Vaughn, hence Moe Moe. And yes as you probably guessed it from the mentioning of the Red Sox, I am a huge Boston Sports Fan!!! I grew up just outside of Boston, MA in a town called Andover. For anyone from the Massachusetts area you know why I am a Boston sports fan, it is built into your DNA. I lived in Andover until I was 15 and then moved down to attend IMG Academies in Bradenton, FL. IMG Academy is a sports academy that trains kids in high school in sports such as soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball and of course golf. I attended the academy for three years where I got to train and play in world renowned facilities. Of course I missed out on the usual high school experiences but it made me the player and person I am today!
After graduating early from high school, in November 2007, I went to Oklahoma State in January of 2008. I was at OSU for a year when I transferred to Arizona State. Arizona State was an amazing experience both personally and playing! We won the National championship the year I transferred in (2009) and I had an amazing time with my teammates!! I miss them a lot and will be forever grateful for the coaching and friendships I made in Tempe.
That brings me up to present day, currently I am in Bradenton, FL training with my coach, David Whelan and my trainer who has trained me since I was 16. I am excited to be a rookie on both the LPGA and the LET (Ladies European tour). Like a few others rookies I bounced back and fourth from La Manga, Spain and Daytona Beach, FL to gain access to both tours. I am looking forward to the experiences of traveling around the world and seeing the different cultures!
I have already played three events on the LET in Australia and New Zealand (the Australian Open, Australian Masters and the New Zealand Open). I had a a great time seeing the three different cities and learning how to play week after week. I have attached some photos of me with a koala bear and kangaroos from some of the zoo’s and sanctuaries I visited in Australia.
I cannot wait to start my new career and life out on tour and keep you all updated on where I am in the world and what I am doing!!
