Lisa Ferrero Wins At Teva Championship Presented by Time Warner Cable

MASON, Ohio, June 12, 2011 - Lisa Ferrero took the lead in round one and never looked back as she went on to win the $135,000 Teva Championship Presented by Time Warner Cable.

Ferrero, a former University of Texas Longhorn, carded rounds of 66-70-71 for a 6-under 207 total.

"Thank God the monkey is off my back," exclaimed Ferrero after her first professional victory at the Symetra Classic.

The monkey is off her back indeed as Ferrero continues to capitalize on positive momentum following her first LPGA Futures Tour victory. Learning to win at a professional level was key for Ferrero who admitted she wasn't nervous for Sunday's final round.

"I wasn't nervous at all today which kind of scared me because usually when you aren't nervous you don't play well," said Ferrero. "Even on the last hole we (Lisa and her caddy) were joking around on the last putt, I just went with the flow."

Ferrero kept it below the gusting winds at the Golf Center at Kings Island where she recorded one birdie and one bogey to earn a one-shot victory over Kathleen Ekey.

Ekey, the winner of last week's Ladies Titan Tire Challenge, pulled within one of Ferrero until a wayward drive on No. 17 resulted in a bogey.

Heading into the final hole two strokes behind Ferrero, Ekey dropped a bomb on the final hole to record her third birdie of the day and finish the tournament 5-under par.

Finishing in a tie for third at 4-uner par were two former LPGA Futures Tour champions Leah Wigger and Ashley Prange.
