Hi Everyone :)
Wow, I can’t believe that I am half way through my rookie season! In a way it feels like I was just gearing up to leave for my first professional event in Australia, on the other hand I am starting to feel more like an experienced player and an expert on packing. Last time I updated my rookie blog I had just finished a stretch of tournaments in the states and in Europe.
I ended up cutting my European tournaments short to qualify for the 2011 Women’s U.S. Open and I did. I did it in good fashion too, I got the last spot in a five for one playoff! It was a long day, but worth it in the end. I also got to catch a Bruins playoff game and to my luck they won! I am sorry to all you non Boston fans but I have to congratulate the Boston Bruins for winning the 2011 Stanley Cup!!! GO BRUINS!
I then went on to play in the ShopRite LPGA Classic which was a great experience. I learned a lot in my second start on the LPGA and was able to try my hand at black jack as well :) My older sister actually caddied for me on the second day and I had a blast, she kept me loose and laughing the entire time! I loved having her at the event and inside the ropes with me, hopefully she will be able to do it again. I went straight from ShopRite to Monday qualify for LPGA State Farm Classic. I played alright and shot even but got out done by two other girls who played great. I was able to go home to Florida after State Farm for the first time since April. I was so happy to be able to actually unpack in my room and see my boyfriend. I spent all of three days at home before heading over to Switzerland for the Ladies Deutsche Bank Swiss Open. Switzerland was absolutely breathtaking, never have I ever seen amazing views from the highway and course. I think I found a place that I would like to move to some day.
I have been able to see amazing places around the world thanks to my job and the most valuable lesson I have learned so far is to appreciate the people and places you are surrounded by. No matter what, your family and friends will always be there to pick you up.
I am currently sitting on a plane flying back from my first major, the 2011 U.S. Women Open at the Broadmoor. I had a great time in Colorado Springs and even though I missed the cut by two, I realized why I am playing golf for a living. I chose to play golf to grow the game and help others enjoy it. It was great to see all the support the USGA and the LPGA have in Colorado Springs and in the United States. I cannot wait for next year’s U.S. Women's Open and getting back out on the golf course for my second half of my rookie season!
For now it is time to relax for a few days by the beach and in the kitchen learning how to cook some new dishes. Hope everyone is having a warm and fun summer!
xoxo
Jackie
