Now that their rookie season is under their belts and they have had a chance to reflect on the year, LPGA.com caught up with several rookies for a quick Q&A. This week we catch up with Mo Martin to see what she thought about her rookie year.
Use one word to describe your rookie year.
What did you learn about yourself and your game this year?
That my fundamentals have served me well and I will continue to build upon them.
Did you set goals and if so did you accomplish them?
Yes, I did set goals, and it was incredibly satisfying to check them all off this year.
What was your favorite part about this year as a rookie?
Being absolutely spoiled, becoming friends with players I've admired for years, meeting some amazing fans and supporters all over the world, competing on some of the best course in the world...and sharing it all with my family and Grandpa.
What did you learn about the LPGA that you didn't know prior?
That we all really do have fascinating stories to share.
Do you have any funny rookie mistakes you want to share?
Fortunately, I can't think of anything too silly I've done this year...which is compliment to how well I have been prepared by the Symetra Tour.
What piece of advice would you give to next year's rookie class?
Well, there's really only one way to learn...so dive in head first!
What are some travel tips now that you are a seasoned traveler?
Try and fly consistently with one airline to race up frequent flyer benefits, and having a credit card with that airline helps out. Also, an app called Xpense Tracker is a very handy way to log expenses.
How will you spend your off-season?
I'll spend the first few weeks cooking, dancing, and catching up with the people I've missed all year! Then I'll spend the rest of the off-season getting prepared for next season.
