The LPGA’s most consistent long hitter has lived up to her nickname, “Bam Bam,” during her eight-year career on the LPGA, never finishing less than third in the Driving Distance category. Brittany Lincicome has also taken that asset a step further, becoming a consistent winner at age 26.
Lincicome, from Seminole, Fla., has won five times in her career, including twice last year. She defends her title in the ShopRite LPGA Classic this week in New Jersey.
Lincicome, however, is mostly known for her prodigious distance off the tee. Lincicome claims the driver is her favorite club and that she has hit a drive 320 yards. The talent was developed growing up playing with a dad, Tom Lincicome, who was a scratch golfer and two older brothers. She has also developed an ability to hit greens in regulation, ranking seventh and fifth, respectively, in 2010 and 2011 on the LPGA.
“I have grown up playing men so I never thought of it as hitting it that far,” Brittany said years ago. “It just seemed normal to me, but I do get a thrill out of it. I never hold back because I love to gamble and push the envelope. Working out and technology also have a lot to do with my hitting it far.”
Lincicome’s game is suited to this week’s site, the Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, for the Shoprite LPGA Classic. She hit an 8-iron second shot into one of the par 5s last year and played the three par 5s in a cumulative 9-under par with seven birdies, an eagle and a par.
Lincicome is currently averaging 283 yards, first on the LPGA. Here’s a look at her ranking annually since turning pro in 2005:
