Maria Hjorth talks about the Olympics

The 2012 Summer Olympics are in full swing and all over the world people are watching as their favorite athlete competes for gold. LPGA.com caught up with several players to get their take on this year's Summer Olympics. Today Maria Hjorth takes time to answers a few questions from her favorite event to watch, her favorite moment of the Summer Olympics and a lot more.

LPGA: Do you have a favorite Summer Olympics moment?
Hjorth: Not really! I love the opening ceremonies where you have all these great athletes together in such a small place!
 
LPGA: Who is your favorite Summer Olympics athlete?
Hjorth: I've got to say Federer and Therese Ahlshammar.
 
LPGA: What is your favorite sport to watch in the Summer Olympics?
Hjorth: I love swimming, athletics and tennis.
 
LPGA: Which country do you think will win the most medals?
Hjorth: I will have to say USA, but I think China will be very close.
 
LPGA: Do you think Michael Phelps will win gold in all the events he swims?
Hjorth: No, but I think he will definitely get some medals.
 
LPGA: Will you be rooting for Ryan Lochte or Michael Phelps?
Hjorth: Phelps.
 
LPGA: Which Summer Olympic sport would you like to play?
Hjorth: Individual Sports: Tennis. Team Sports: Badminton.
 
LPGA: Do you prefer the Summer or Winter Olympics?
Hjorth: I like both just as much.
 
LPGA: Which Summer Olympics sport would you never want to try?
Hjorth: Diving.

LPGA: Which sport did you have no idea was in the Olympics?
Hjorth: None, I know all the sports. 
 
LPGA: If you were on the gymnastics team which event would you want to participate in?
Hjorth: Floor Exercise.
 
LPGA: If you were on a synchronized swimming team, what LPGA players would you want on your team?
Hjorth: Lorie Kane (since she used to be one), Sara Jane Smith, and Azahara Munoz.
 
LPGA: How do you feel about golf being added to the Olympics in 2016?
Hjorth: I think it's good. It will not change golf that much, but it will be great for the smaller countries to be able to play a big golf tournament and compete in the Olympics!
 
LPGA: Is making the 2016 Olympics a goal of yours?
Hjorth: Yes, but it is a long way away!
 
LPGA: What sport did Margaret Abbott play to become the first U.S. woman to win Olympic gold, in 1900?
Hjorth: I would not be sure, but I assume golf! 
 
LPGA: What would it mean to you to carry the Olympic Torch for your country?
Hjorth: It would be something extremely special! I could not wish for a greater achievement!
