Another season came to an end and with that LPGA.com caught up with several players to get their thoughts on last season, plans for the off-season and if they'll be putting down the clubs and truly take some time off. This week we check in with Lexi Thompson to see what she has to say about 2012 and what she'll be doing to prepare for the 2013 season.
Describe your 2012 season using only one word?
How would you compare this season to seasons in the past?
I played a lot more last year.
What part of your game have you been the happiest with this season?
I am happy about every part of my game, mostly my ball striking.
How well did you meet the goals you set for yourself?
I didn't win in 2012 so I didn't accomplish one of my goals, but I did accomplish my overall goal and that was to play consistent.
You've been traveling off and on for about 10 months now, what are you most excited about at home?
I was looking forward to the holidays and spending time with my family and friends!
How will you spend your off-season?
Relaxing, going to watch my brother Curtis play, then attending a wedding for my other brother and maybe a trip to Busch Gardens or Islands of Adventure and of course a trip to the gun range.
How long will you put down your clubs?
I will take a week off.
Heading into the off-season do you have anything specific you want to work on with your game?
I'm going to work on everything to get more consistent, but spend a lot of time on my short game!
Will you have a specific exercise routine to stay fit prior to 2013?
Training three or four days a week with my trainer, then I will be doing cardio the other days.
How do you go about preparing for a new season?
I will focus on specific things I need to work on and not burn myself out.
