A look at some of the top player picks for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
- Stacy Lewis: Lewis has won three times this year, including the Ricoh Women’s British Open, and has second-place finishes at 18- and 25-under in the last three weeks. As she prepares for a break from her schedule, why not earn a victory only four hours away from where she won the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore in March?
- So Yeon Ryu: In the tournament’s three-year history, three South Koreans have won the title – Jimin Kang, Na Yeon Choi and Inbee Park. Ryu is fourth on this year’s money list and has eight top-10s, so she’s due to win. Ryu finished fifth last year in her Malaysia tournament debut.
- Suzann Pettersen: Pettersen is going for a third consecutive LPGA victory (she didn’t play in China last week) and knows a strong finish is necessary just to get close to Inbee Park (with whom she’s paired in the first two rounds) in the Rolex LPGA Player of the Year race. Pettersen won twice in the season-ending Asian Swing in 2012.
- Paula Creamer: Creamer has finished T9 and T6 in two career starts in Malaysia. Five of her eight rounds have been under 70 and none have been above par (71) at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. So maybe it’s time for her break a victory drought dating back to the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open.
