Suzann Pettersen of Norway hits her second shot on the 12th hole during the first round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Country Club on April 4, 2013 in Rancho Mirage, California.

At the Kraft Nabisco Championship last weekend, American golfers had the opportunity to gain double points. Had an American player won, they could have added 120 points. Lizette Salas was in second place going into Sunday. If she had maintained that position, she would have broken into the top eight, but her 7-over final round deterred her from earning points.

The best American finishes were Jennifer Johnson and Paula Creamer (both T13). That adds 27 points for each of them, which pushed Paula past Cristie Kerr to second place behind Stacy Lewis. Johnson is currently in 17th on the points list.

On the other side, Team Europe had a few top ten finishes at the first major of the season. Both Caroline Hedwall and Suzann Pettersen finished tied for third place, putting Pettersen at number one in points and Hedwall at third. Rookie Caroline Masson had her best LPGA finish yet at T13, keeping her in the number four spot on the points list.

The four spots based on rankings are currently Catriona Matthew, Azahara Munoz, Beatriz Recari and Anna Nordqvist.

Suzann Pettersen had a great finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, where Annika Sorenstam won three times. In the video below, Suzann talks about her experience playing in the Solheim Cup with Annika.
