When Arielle Notte, sister of Special Olympics golfer, Alex Notte, suggested he ask LPGA Tour player and rising star, Belen Mozo, to his senior prom, Alex didn't hesitate. After all, he had already met Belen two years before when attending the Wegmans LPGA Championship. Belen was teaching putting and meeting golf fans at the event. She made an immediate impression on Alex, who was just then taking up the game after tagging along behind Arielle, who played golf during her high school years—and also interned at LPGA Headquarters.
Arielle and Alex filmed a video invitation and posted it on YouTube. Belen saw the video and said, "Yes!"
LPGA T&CP member, Louise Ball, has been giving Alex golf lessons at Gettysvue Polo Golf and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. for the past three years. "Alex is a wonderful young man who is always happy!" said Louise. "We're planning an event for Special Olympics on May 11, the day of the prom. Belen, Miles, Alex, his family and I will have breakfast at the club and play a few holes of golf together. Then Belen is going to do an hour or so exhibition at our range, hitting balls and answering questions."
Following dinner at the club, a limo will take Alex and Belen to prom.
