Hi, my name is Jessica Shepley and 2009 marks this Canadian's rookie season on the LPGA Tour. As a result of finishing 7th on the 2008 Duramed Futures Tour's money list, I earned partial status or what is now known as a Priority 17 ranking for this season. The number one question I have been asked over the last couple months is when will I know what tournaments I will be getting into. Unfortunately, I don't have a solid answer to give anyone. Since I do not have full status, I have to wait each week to see whether or not the field is full. Once there are openings in the event, then the players on the alternate list begin getting called up. This is what we call a lesson in patience!!! As I am sure you can imagine, I can't wait to play my first event, but in the meantime I am preparing both on the course and in the gym so when the time comes, I'll be ready to go.
There are different options for players with partial status, some choosing to travel each week and Monday qualify. I, however, have decided to go the other route and continue to compete on the Duramed Futures Tour. I have gained so much valuable experience playing on the DFT over the last few seasons, so why not continue getting everything I can out of the opportunities I have? I look forward to sharing my experiences, both on and off the course with you as the 2009 season progresses!!
