I am just going to introduce myself a little bit so you get to know me a bit better. I am from San Pedro de Alcantara, Spain. I graduated from Arizona State University last May with a degree in Psychology. My college experience was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone. I actually miss it a lot!! I loved everything about it, except for school, even though I was pretty good at it!
I turned professional just in time for first stage of Q-School in Palm Springs. I could have turned professional after NCAA, but I decided to wait and play all summer with the Spanish team. I guess I have never been in a rush for anything…but it works for me. I am a pretty relaxed and laid back person. Right after Palm Springs, I went back to Spain to play in the Madrid Masters, where I got a sponsor's exemption. And I won it!!! It was the best moment of my golf career so far… Winning that tournament made things much easier for me. Once I had a three-year exemption on the LET, I didn't feel so much pressure going into the LPGA final stage. Playing on the LPGA has always been my dream, but at least I felt I had somewhere to play if things didn't go well there.
Luckily for me, Q-School went really well and I got full status on the LPGA. After Q-School, I decided to take a month off, but it almost became two-and-a-half because we had the worst winter that I can remember. It never stopped raining for more than two months and all the golf courses were closed!! So I have been enjoying my time off with family and friends back home, which is my favorite thing to do. At the end of February, I went to play a tournament in New Zeland and then two more in Australia. They were LET tournaments. I am really glad I decided to go because now I have played three tournaments before starting on the LPGA, and I got a little bit of practice in, which I really needed!!
After Australia and San Diego, I had a week off. I went back to Arizona and stayed with one of my best friends and old teammate, Carlota Ciganda. Pretty soon you all will know a lot about her - she is awesome. We had a great time. We practiced a bit, sang Karaoke (I am extremely bad at it but I enjoy it), worked out, and went to dinner and movies. I had a relaxing week and a great time. I never realized how exhausting it is to play tournaments, and I needed some down time before coming to San Diego.
And here I am. I am just at the hotel room, thinking how lucky I am to be doing what I love. I can't wait for Thursday to play my first LPGA event as a professional. Hope you guys watch it and enjoy it!
Thanks everyone for reading my blog. I will keep updating it throughout the season!!! So keep checking it!!!
