Prudential Rock Solid Performer: Kerr wins LPGA Championship

Cristie Kerr and Ai Miyazato were named the Prudential Rock Solid Performers of the week.

Cristie Kerr rocked the LPGA Championship Presented by Wegmans, winning by a commanding 12-strokes over Song-Hee Kim. Kerr captured her second major championship in style with rounds of 68-66-69-66 and broke the record for the largest winning margin in LPGA Championship history. Kerr is now the owner of 14 LPGA tournament titles and is projected to become the first American to take over the No. 1 position in the Rolex Rankings when they are released tomorrow. Kerr held a share of the first-round lead with Stacy Lewis and Seon-Hwa Lee and never relinquished it. She stretched her lead to five after a second-round 66 and to an impressive eight shots after a third-round 69.

Ai Miyazato did not know she needed to finish second alone to maintain her No. 1 ranking until she teed off before the final round. She made the most of the day, carding seven birdies and one bogey, on her way to a 6-under par 66. Miyazato claimed the No. 1 spot in the world after winning last week’s ShopRite LPGA Classic and is looking forward to continuing the battle for No. 1. Miyazato commented, “Even if it's just for one week I was able to get experience, and I will take very many positive things out of it.”
