Rolex Rankings No. 2 Cristie Kerr had an early wake-up call on Tuesday in advance of Kia Classic media day in Los Angeles. The top-ranked American appeared on KTLA’s Morning Show, taking on a local viewer in a Pros vs. Schmoes putting challenge as the sun came up over Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms. Kerr used the opportunity to promote the upcoming Kia Classic, as well as her charitable efforts with Curvature Wines and Birdies for Breast Cancer.
Later in the day, a full media contingent descended upon Pacific Palms to hear from Kerr, tournament director Dennis Baggett and Michael Sprague, Kia’s Vice President of Marketing and Communication, who provided the audience with a sneak peak of Kia’s upcoming Super Bowl commercial.
Kerr’s day continued with one-on-one interviews and a lunch with Kia executives before an in-studio interview at KCBS to promote the event. The day was capped off with an appearance on Fox Sports West for the Los Angeles Lakers pre-game show before joining actor Michael O’Keefe – known affectionately to golf fans as Danny Noonan from Caddyshack – courtside for the Lakers vs. Rockets game.
The Kia Classic, which brings the LPGA back to Los Angeles for the first time in six years, will take place March 21-27 at Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms. For more information, please visit www.KiaClassic.com.
