Miles of Smiles

Rolex Rankings No. 1 Yani Tseng joined LPGA Tour members Leta Lindley and Paige Mackenzie on Tuesday to kick off the 2011 ShopRite LPGA Classic with a visit to the Roger B. Hansen Center for childbirth at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC). The trio of golfers toured the hospital’s nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, visiting with the families of the children who are currently at ARMC. They also presented a future LPGA player basket to the first born girl of the day at the hospital. The basket included many essential items for a newborn, as well as an enlarged LPGA Tour card featuring the baby’s name. AtlantiCare is one of the designated tournament charities. The ShopRite LPGA Classic has donated more than $23 million to local charities since the 1990s.

The ShopRite LPGA Classic tees off on Friday on the Bay Course at Seaview - A Dolce Resort. A field of 150 players, including defending champion Ai Miyazato, will compete for a purse of $1.5 million this week. Joining Miyazato in this week’s field are past ShopRite LPGA Classic champions Seon Hwa Lee (2006), Cristie Kerr (2004), Angela Stanford (2003), Se Ri Pak (1999), and Juli Inkster (1986, 1988)
