Hello world - In case you haven't been loyally following my blog, my name is Stephanie Kim: LPGA rookie, Priceline negotiator, and 2011 LPGA Futures Tour Winner. There's no need to reread the sentence, unless of course you want to bask in my short-lived glory or build monuments in my honor. I won the Island Resort Championship in Michigan, and it goes without saying that it was the most satisfying moment of my rookie year.
I'm glad to report that less practice and close proximity to a casino will equate to your first professional win. But at this point in the season, I feel like a road-weary warrior. I have four events left in the season, three LPGA Futures Tour Tournaments and one LPGA event. I'm 20th on the LPGA Futures Tour rankings and the top five will receive the "Golden Tickets". Not for a tour of a Chocolate Factory, which incidentally I did in Hershey, PA last week, but to tour on the LPGA as a fully-exempt player.
It's crunch time and nobody feels the pressure more than I, but in my off week, I'll be busy planning more important things. My birthday is coming up, August 19th (all major credit cards will be accepted) and beyond anything else, I'm pretty excited to plan the festivities. I'm turning the big 2-0 and irreversibly leaving my teenager years behind me. I've heard you feel all your childhood urges being sucked out of you at midnight and you're forced to escape a pack of wild dogs, but I may have been asking the wrong people. Nonetheless, I'm ecstatic for all the wonderful and positive moves forward I've had this year and hopefully, I can build on my successes and earn my 2012 LPGA card!
