Clifton, NJ - Tournament officials for the Sybase® Classic presented by ShopRite have announced that tickets are now available for the LPGA Tour's stop in Northern New Jersey at historic Upper Montclair Country Club, which will host the tournament May 14 - 17, 2009. The ticket launch coincides with the start of the 2009 LPGA Tour season this week. In addition, officials are in search of volunteers to staff the LPGA Tour event.
"It is our hope that enthusiastic golf fans and community supporters around the New Jersey area will buy their tickets early to watch three-time champion Lorena Ochoa as she defends her title against the top female golfers in the world," said Executive Director Andy Bush.
Weekly Tickets are valid for admission all week at a cost of $50. Daily Grounds Tickets, valid any one day, are $20. Children 15 and under are admitted free all week. Admission Monday - Wednesday is free of charge, courtesy of Sybase. Tickets can be purchased at www.sybaseclassic.com or 1-800-444-LPGA.
Online purchasers can receive two special offers. A Weekly Ticket Four-Pack is available for $150. This includes four weekly tickets at the cost of three. In addition, fans purchasing five or more Daily Grounds Tickets can receive them at the discounted price of $17 apiece.
Tournament officials are also calling on residents to support their community and local charities by volunteering for the 2009 tournament. Each year, over 500 volunteers donate their time and energy to ensure the tournament's success. There are a number of different committees that have unique responsibilities, including: TV support, hole marshals, standard bearers and greenside reporters. Staff will provide training sessions for certain volunteer committees.
"The Sybase Classic volunteer experience puts the greatest female golfers by your side and allows the community to get an insider's take on a golf tournament," said Bush. "Everyone, no matter age or golf knowledge, can play a meaningful role in the tournament's success."
The volunteer fee is $60 and includes one official tournament golf shirt, one jacket and a hat or visor. Volunteers also receive free entrance and parking to the event all week, and eight additional Daily Grounds Tickets to give to friends and family. Breakfast and lunch are provided on scheduled work days, and an invitation for two to the Volunteer Appreciation Party will be extended prior to the event.
