Vollstedt slated for Arizona Sports Hall of Fame

On April 16, LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Linda Vollstedt will be among four individuals inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. Vollstedt is a former Arizona State University golf coach and will be honored during the 29th induction ceremony at the Phoenician Resort and Spa, hosted as part of the Phoenix Regional Sport Commission's mission to "Enrich Our Community Through Sports." Other inductees will include: Phoenix Suns broadcaster Al McCoy, former Arizona State University and Major League Baseball player Bob Horner, and former Arizona State University and National Football League player Darren Woodson.

The 2009 inductees will increase the Hall of Fame membership total to 69 individuals, which include Karsten Solheim, of the Solheim family behind The Solheim Cup - a biennial, trans-Atlantic competition between the United States and Europe. The 2009 Solheim Cup will be the 11th staging and will be hosted at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., Aug. 21 to 23.
