Stanford is top-American finisher at LPGA State Farm Classic

Angela Stanford, a nine-year LPGA Tour member, finished alongside South Korean players Hee-Won Han (69-69-70-65) and Jee Young Lee (66-69-72-66) in a 15-under-par 273 three-way tie for third place at the LPGA State Farm Classic. Stanford (70-67-69-67) held the lead for part of the day on Sunday after carding birdies on five of her first six holes of the day. Making the turn at 4-under-par on the front nine, the Saginaw, Texas, native recorded four more birdies on the back side, along with three bogeys. Two strokes back from the lead approaching her final hole of the week, Stanford's play was interrupted by a 20-minute inclement weather delay. Once play resumed, she made par on hole 18, and ended up tied for third on the final leaderboard at the Panther Creek Country Club.

Stanford has four LPGA Tour victories on her resume, recording five top-10 finishes this season, including a win at the season-opening SBS Open at Turtle Bay in Hawaii.
