Michelle Wie's successful week climaxed on Sunday with a 1 up victory over Helen Alfredsson in Singles play at the 2009 Solheim Cup. Wie, one of two captain's picks on the 2009 team, ended the week with a 3-0-1 record to earn 3 ½ points on the week. Just the second LPGA Tour rookie to play on the U.S. Solheim Cup Team, Wie joined fellow Solheim Cup rookie Brittany Lang and Morgan Pressel as the only undefeated Americans.
Lang went 1-0-2 in her rookie effort on the U.S. Team, scoring 2 points. One of her most crucial points came in Sunday Singles play where she halved her match against Laura Davies. Kristy McPherson also made her Solheim Cup debut this week, going 1-3-0 to earn one point for the U.S. Team.
