Players preview Magnolia Grove's Crossings Course

On Thursday, February 4th, a group of LPGA players had the pleasure of previewing the renovations made to the Magnolia Grove's Crossings Course, home to the Bell Micro LPGA Classic. Watch or read what the players had to say about the changes.

Brittany Lincicome: "…just taking out trees and adding bunkers, putting in new ponds…and it's long. That was probably the biggest concern. Well for myself it's great because obviously I have a huge advantage, so I'm not complaining there, but for me to say it's long, it's pretty long."

How much do you think the course will change between now and May?

Lincicome: Just between now and May it will give the greens time to soften up a little bit. They are still a little firm, which is obviously to be expected, but they're rolling true which is good. Soften up just a hair and they're going to be perfect.

Do you like the changes themselves a lot? ...like the greens are known for their quadrants that you had to hit into. How much has that changed even though the firmness is there right now?

Lincicome:

They've changed a lot. There is still a subtle movement to them which make them very tricky. They still are tough greens to read and tough greens to putt on but they're not as undulated as you said, so I mean they are still equally as hard even without all the hills and everything that is in there, just because of how subtle some of the breaks were. You know I told my guys today, “Oh, you know, a little to the right” and it would be right edge, you know, so. It's going to be fun to just get out here and to be able to practice and putt on them a little bit more at the tournament.

Anna Grzebien

What did you think of the renovations to the course?

Grzebien: Oh, it was great. It was cold out there, so it played a little long. But the changes that they made are really great…great for the fans, the players and the greens were great, a little more fair, still firm, but I think everyone really enjoyed it.

Paige Mackenzie & Irene Cho

What did you think of the renovations to the course?

Mackenzie: It was playing really long today. I'm hoping that in May it's going to get a little bit warmer, but the course itself is good. I think the improvements that they've made are going to make a big difference. I think that the girls are going to really like it come May.

Cho: The whole back nine is completely new and I think that it's a good challenge, you know? …a good test of our game.

Mina Harigae

What did you think of the renovations to the course?

Harigae: I love the course. I think it's in great shape. They've done a lot of great things to the new course, even though I hadn't seen it before, but I overall loved it.

What was your favorite hole on the course?

Harigae: I like #18. Even though it was long, I think it's a really good hole.

Meredith Duncan

What did you think of the renovations to the course?

Duncan: It's awesome. They made some fantastic changes. The greens are great, a lot more fair, but you better buckle up and hit it because it's long.
