Inaugural tournament to be held March 22-28 at La Costa Resort and Spa
CARLSBAD, Calif., March 9, 2010 - The Kia Classic Presented by J Golf announced today that all fans driving Kia vehicles will be allowed to park for free on site at La Costa Resort and Spa during the Kia Classic Presented by J Golf.
The offer is valid every day during tournament week, March 22-28.
The $1.7 million Kia Classic Presented by J Golf, to be held March 22-28, is a full-field, 144-player LPGA tournament that will bring the best names in women's golf to La Costa for the LPGA's first 2010 event in the United States. Mexican superstar and Rolex Rankings No. 1 Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie, Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Jiyai Shin, American No. 1 Cristie Kerr and young American stars Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Morgan Pressel and Brittany Lincicome have committed to the play in the tournament.
"We're proud to be associated with Kia, and this just seemed like a natural fit to offer fans arriving in Kia vehicles the opportunity to park for free," said Jim Felechner, the Tournament Director for the Kia Classic presented by J Golf.
The Kia Classic Presented by J Golf will continue a long tradition of professional women's golf in San Diego, beginning in 1953 with the San Diego Open. Most recently, Na Yeon Choi became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the 2009 Samsung World Championship. In the 55 years between, San Diego tournament winners have included the likes of LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame members Louise Suggs, Mickey Wright, Betsy Rawls and many other prominent LPGA stars.
