Leading Candidates Unveiled on LPGA.com for LPGA Global Media Awards Presented by Rolex  

New category added to honor long-time journalistic achievement
Submissions STILL OPEN through July 9, 2010

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 21, 2010 – The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) and Evian Masters proudly unveiled today on LPGA.com the leading candidates in six categories for the inaugural LPGA Global Media Awards Presented by Rolex. The organizations also announced the addition of a new award category honoring long-time achievement in media coverage of women’s professional golf. The Rolex Award for Media Excellence winner will be presented with a Rolex timepiece at the ceremony to be held at the Hotel Ermitage in Evian-Les-Bains, France on Friday, July 23 following the second round of the Evian Masters golf tournament.

Submissions for the inaugural LPGA Global Media Awards Presented by Rolex remain open through July 9, the second day of the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. Information on submitting candidates can be found on the second page of this release, or at LPGA.com.

The LPGA Global Media Awards Presented by Rolex Selection Committee choosing the photography winners will be comprised of past Evian Masters champions Ai Miyazato (2009), Helen Alfredsson (2008) and Natalie Gulbis (2007); Franck Riboud, Evian Masters President and Chairman/CEO of Group Danone; Jacques Bungert, Evian Masters Tournament Director; and LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan. Faculty and students at the University of Oregon’s internationally renowned Warsaw Sports Marketing Center serving on the Selection Committee will select the writing winners.

Fans will be able to vote online for their photography favorites in early July.

Award recipients will be honored at the Evian Masters as it celebrates its 11th year on the LPGA Tour schedule. The tournament boasts a field of the 111 of the world’s best female professional players, competing for a Tour-high purse of $3.25 million.

The Evian Masters once again will be played at the Evian Masters Golf Club, in the Royal Resort nestled between Lake Geneva and nearby mountains, and will be preceded by the Evian Masters Juniors Cup, a 36-hole competition enabling aspiring professional golfers a chance to sample the special flavor of a major international gathering.
