Jiyai Shin and Na Yeon Choi donated their entire winnings from the KLPGA Championship to several South Korean charities benefiting people in need. Shin’s first-place check at the event was approximately $140,000 USD, while Choi’s third-place check was $30,000. Both also have made sizable donations in the past to other charities.
“What I really needed here was the trophy, and not the money,” said Shin. “I am very happy to have a good showing here at home. I hope this really helps those in need.”
